I saw on CNN that today was the deadliest day for the U.S. in the Iraq war with the deaths today of 30 Marines and a Navy Corpsman in a helicopter crash. My heart is just broken! I lost friends while I was in the Marine Corps and I have family and close friends that are still in the military and serving proudly today. As a Marine, as a Disabled Vet., as a person who has family and friends fighting and as a American my thoughts and prayers go to the families and friends who have paid such a high price on my behalf. The death of any person is a sad and horrible occasion but especially for me when I hear of the deaths of Marines or any military it brings a whole new level of sadness for me and brings up so many memories of the past and fears for those in my life. To the families and friends of all our troops I can only offer my prayers for you all and also let you know that your loss is felt by so many. Thank you does not do justice when someone gives their life on your and your family's behalf..but I do thank you and I give you all my prayers and honour! The term hero gets tossed around so much lately but the real heros are the brave and patriotic men and women who put there lives on the line everyday in the military...it also describes the families who give their sons and daughters for the sake of freedom. Tonight, after I take my daughter back to her Mom's home I will be offering a Holy Hour of Adoration for the sake of all the military and their families and for the souls of the honored dead. I encourage all to also pray earnestly for all men and women in uniform and their families! In the sidebar there are quite a few links to ways that you can help the military and their families (phone cards, legitimate donation resources and ect.) please visit one of the official sites and do what you can to help out!
"Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen."
Semper Fidelis!!
