Saint Patrick of Ireland a CARMELITE SAINT???

Praise be Jesus Christ!!
The title will confuse most of you who are Irish or Carmelite or both. My explanation is that while St. Patrick was a Bishop before the Rule of St. Albert came about and was not living on the Holy Mountain of Carmel his nature or at least formation had some Carmelite tones in it and I shall attempt to explain below.
#1) While Patrick did not choose his initial cross, just as Simon of Cyrene did not initially choose to carry the Cross of Christ, when he was abducted from his homeland by the pagan Celts and sold into slavery in Ireland. It was 'in the desert' a place where he was abandoned- he thought- that he found God. His transformation came through mental prayer, contemplation and abandonment to Divine Providence. His 'cross' turned into love of the Irish people that after his miraculous escape and his ordination he wanted to return and win hearts, minds and souls for Christ Our Crucified and Risen Redeemer.
#2) Many secular and religious historians will agree that it was in the desert of his life that Patrick embraced the Redeemer and developed his faith in a much deeper way than might have been possible if he had not been a captive slave. It was in these desert times that Patrick developed a mysticism similar to Carmel. Who knows maybe Our Lady and Elijah were interceeding to the Father for him. I wonder if Patrick reflected on the lives of Our Lady and Elijah to draw streagth in his imposed 'hermitage" of pagan Ireland. Patrick, like Our Lady also had to offer his FIAT several times before his escape and certainly before and after his return to Ireland.
#3) Patrick returns to Ireland. This place of slavery had been transformed to a place of prayer, penance and for Patrick peace with in his heart and soul. God came to Patrick in Ireland and now Patrick as a Bishop would take God to the Irish and transform forever the heart of the Irish. Trials and sufferings abounded, threats against his life persisted but with ZEAL Patrick was ZEALOUS FOR GOD.
We need more Patrick's and John Paul II's and Therese's and Teresa's and John of the Cross's in our world. We need the desert, our souls cry out for God who can be found in the desert and in silence. Our world needs more saints like this who with zeal transform the earth for Christ. All of us (Carmelite, Franciscan, Jesuit and Lay men and women) can learn much from the pseudo- Carmelite St. Patrick of Ireland!
Lord teach us to seek Your Face, to hear Your Voice, to work with Your Hands, to be Holy as You are Holy and to be Zealous for YOU always! May your Holy Saints and Angels intercede for us and lead us always to You. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Pray for us! AMEN.

"With zeal I am zealous for the Lord God of Hosts." 1st Kings 19:10 and the Carmelite Motto.

Omnia Pro Jesu Per Mariam!!
