Praise be Jesus Christ!!
Because of how both articles relate to each other I have posted two recent articles by the Zenit News Agency and a link to Zenit is provided in the text of this posting. In light of all that is happening in the world and most of the junk that the secular media produces I thought that both articles were especially relavent today. I continue to ask you to make a Holy Hour for the intention for Reparation and Conversion personally, locally and globally. I can personally attest to the transforming power of Christ in the Sacraments of the Church and in the Holy Hours that I offer to Him. It is not a easy journey at times but Christ Our Lord will if you only let Him transform your life and the lives of those around you through His Love, Grace and Mercy. We need not be fearful of the future on a personal level or globally if we turn to Our Redeemer and say "Jesus I Trust in YOU!". Please pray for our Holy Father and for all Bishops, Priests, Deacons and Religious. Please pray for the entire Church and all of humanity that we all may come to trust in and know the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
I will try to get out the Daily Read tommorrow and then keep it up on a more regular basis in addition to my occasional comments.

Commentary on Canticle of Revelation (15:3-4)
"Thanks to Fear of the Lord, There Is No Fear of Evil"

VATICAN CITY, MAY 11, 2005 (Zenit.org).- Here is a translation of Benedict XVI's address at today's general audience, held in St. Peter's square, which he dedicated to a reflection on the canticle of praise "Lord God the Almighty" (Revelation 15:3), which forms part of the evening prayer of the Church, known as vespers.

"Great and wonderful are your works, Lord God almighty. Just and true are your ways, O king of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, or glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All the nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." (Revelation 15:3-4)

1. Brief and solemn, incisive and grandiose in its tonality, is the canticle which we now made ours, elevating it as a hymn of praise to the "Lord God Almighty" (Revelation 15:3). It is one of the many prayerful texts set in Revelation, book of judgment, salvation and, above all, hope.

History, in fact, is not alone in the hands of dark powers, chance or human choices. Over the unleashing of evil energies, the vehement irruption of Satan, and the emergence of so many scourges and evils, the Lord rises, supreme arbiter of historical events. He leads history wisely towards the dawn of the new heavens and the new earth, sung in the final part of the book under the image of the new Jerusalem (cf. Revelation 21-22).

Those who intone the canticle that we will now meditate are the righteous of history, the conquerors of the Satanic beast, those who go through the apparent defeat of martyrdom are, in reality, the builders of the new world, with God the supreme architect.

2. They begin by exalting the "great and wonderful" deeds and the "just and true" ways of the Lord (cf. Revelation 15:3). The language is that characteristic of the exodus of Israel from Egyptian slavery. Moses' first canticle -- pronounced after the passage of the Red Sea -- celebrates the Lord "terrible in renown, worker of wonders" (Exodus 15:11). The second canticle -- referred to in Deuteronomy at the end of the life of the great lawgiver -- confirms that "how faultless are his deeds, how right all his ways!" (Deuteronomy 32:4).

It must be reaffirmed, therefore, that God is not indifferent to human events, but penetrates them realizing his "ways," namely his plans and his efficacious "deeds."

3. According to our hymn, this divine intervention has a very specific purpose: to be a sign that invites all the peoples of the earth to conversion. Nations must learn to "read" in history a message of God. Humanity's history is not confused and without meaning, nor is it given over, without appeal, to the malfeasance of the arrogant and perverse. There is the possibility to recognize divine action hidden in it. In the pastoral constitution "Gaudium et Spes," Vatican Council II also invites the believer to scrutinize, in the light of the Gospel, the signs of the times to see in them the manifestation of the very action of God (cf. n. 4 and 11). This attitude of faith leads man to recognize the power of God operating in history, and thus to open himself to fear of the name of the Lord. In biblical language, in fact, this "fear" does not coincide with dread, but is the recognition of the mystery of the divine transcendence. Because of this, it is the basis of faith and is joined with love: "the Lord your God requires of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul" (cf. Deuteronomy 10:12).

Following this line, in our brief hymn, taken from Revelation, fear and glorification of God are united: "Who will not fear you, Lord, or glorify your name?" (15:4). Thanks to fear of the Lord there is no fear of the evil that rages in history and one takes up again with vigor the journey of life, as the prophet Isaiah declared: "Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the knees that are weak, say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not!'" (Isaiah 35: 3-4).

4. The hymn ends with the expectation of a universal procession of peoples who will appear before the Lord of history, revealed through his "righteous acts" (cf. Revelation 15:4). They will prostrate themselves in adoration. And the one Lord and savior seems to repeat to them the words pronounced on the last evening of his earthly life: "take courage, I have conquered the world" (John 16:33).

And we wish to conclude our brief reflection on the canticle of the victorious lamb (Revelation 15:3), intoned by the righteous of Revelation, with an ancient hymn of twilight, namely of the evening prayer, that St. Basil of Caesarea already knew: "Having reached sunset, in seeing the light of evening, let us sing to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit of God. You are worthy of being praised at all times with holy voices, Son of God, you who give life. Because of this the world glorifies you" (S. Pricoco and M. Simonetti, "La Preghiera dei Cristiani," (The Prayer of Christians), Milan, 2000, p. 97).

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today I would like to reflect with you on the canticle found in chapter 15 of the Book of Revelation. It is a song that proclaims the victory of Christ, the lamb who was slain for our salvation. The language of the hymn reminds us of the song which Moses and the people of Israel sang after their deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

The canticle celebrates God's saving work, which reaches out to all the peoples of the earth. It invites all nations to come and worship the "Lord God almighty" and to fear and glorify his holy name.

Let us take part in that great procession of all the nations that "come and worship" the Lord. Let us fall down before the victorious Lamb of God and listen to him as he repeats to us the words he said on the night before he died: "Take courage, I have conquered the world!" (John 16:33).

In the name of Christ, I greet all the English-speaking visitors present at this audience, including pilgrims from England, Ireland and the United States of America. Exorcist on Satan Not Having Last Word

Interview with Father José Antonio Fortea

MADRID, Spain, MAY 11, 2005 (Zenit.org).- God is greater than "Satan's vehement irruption," said Benedict XVI in his general audience, something of which exorcists are well aware.

In the following interview with Father José Antonio Fortea, priest of the Diocese of Alcala de Henares in Madrid, an experienced exorcist comments on the reality of the devil in modern life. Father Fortea recently wrote a book entitled "Summa Daemoniaca."

Q: What is Satan's greatest triumph?

Father Fortea: To make us believe that he doesn't exist. Indeed, after the 60s, many theologians said he was a symbol, and this has been a great success because, of course, all the ministry of exorcism disappeared from Europe almost totally. Only in Rome did it remain in a continuous, and even daily, manner.

Q: What has this attitude caused?

Father Fortea: It has done us much harm. People no longer trust in the Word of God as perfect authority in which there is no room for error. They are saying: "We don't know what is symbol and what is reality." But the topic of the devil, who was the first to be swept away by the most modernist theology, is one of the ones recovering the most because the reality prevails.

Q: Does the tempter always tempt?

Father Fortea: The devil tempts, but not always, only sometimes. He is not always by our side, although he can tempt to very evil and demonic things. For example, in the flesh. In it we see symbolized many sins that come from our own person. Above all, what are most striking are the sins of lust, as they are the one's the human being falls into most easily and are the ones with the least malice; they are, rather, of weakness. This type of sin opens the door to worse sins, and so we go descending step by step if we don't change our ways.

Q: Do the faithful of your parish know about exorcisms?

Father Fortea: It is one of my greatest joys. I think it is the only parish in the world in which very many of the faithful, from 18 to 70 years old, take part weekly in exorcisms. It is perhaps the only one in the world in which they are known both by the mayor and the police. If they hear shouting they don't come in because they know what is going on there.

Q: However, generally speaking, in the rest of the world exorcism continues to be a spectacle.

Father Fortea: The lack of information is the taboo that has been created around this. The devil knows it well. The less that is know about him, or of the work of the Church against him, the better. But, of course, it is what interests him. What I am interested in is that his plans be uncovered. Above all, an exorcist must know that the devil exists and that the possibility of exorcism exists.
