Going to Hell in a handbasket!

A comment was made to me just a few days ago that 'this world is going to hell in a handbasket'. I certainly agree. With the wide spread disregard for human life, with promiscuity and pornography rampant on the internet- television and print media, when violators of moral law have more rights and receive praise and accolades from society than men and women who try to lead a moral ethical life do: well yes I belive that the society is 'going to hell in a handbag'. It seems to me that everything is upside down when actors and actresses and television pseudo stars are held up the pinnacles of enlightened society and those who struggle to follow God are somehow the freaks of the world. I have been on the otherside of the curtain and I know from my own experiences and sins and faults just how easy it is to slip into confusion and darkness. My own particulars are between myself and my confessor(s) and God. Yours are not for me to decide that is something after
a honest examination of conscience that you can bring before God in the Sacrament of Penance. It is hard though I think to obtain Mercy unless we ask for it. The old physics law seems to be applicable though -for every action there is a reaction. If we fall into sin darkness descends - if we confess, in private in the Sacrament and pray for Mercy then light and grace and peace come in. God is Love, God is Mercy and God is Just. Like the person who freely chooses to break the law and drink and drive the wreck they cause and suffering they bring on themselves and others is because they refused to obey the law and were more concerned about their selfish desire to 'have fun': we to (myself included) choose daily heaven or hell- peace or disaster. Because of the countless choices individually and globally many are headed for the biggest 'drunken car crash' of the span of time. But, instead of surrendering to the darkness of the day we confess (like the drunk has to confess that they can not drive and need to hand over the keys and get help) and pray for Mercy then we (I) can avoid the harshness of this looming wreck. It begins with myself and with you asking for forgiveness and offering our hearts and lives in prayer. We (I) have to turn over the keys to God and allow Him to drive us home saftely. I don't want to see anyone, friend or foe, suffer but I think sometimes we as humans can only sober up quickly when the 'car crashes' of life occur. For those who may want to really do a honest examination of conscience I have provided a link here. I have also provided a link so that you can find a Catholic Church near you and make your own private confession and then receive Our Lord in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Alter. I have also placed a link here so that you can learn about the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and pray it yourself- just you and God or as a family or group. I have also placed a link here so that you can learn how to pray the Holy Rosary which is a powerful weapon against the evil one. No one needs to go to hell in a handbasket if we just stop and surrender our faults and offer our prayers for Mercy and continued conversion- for ourselves and the world. It all has to begin with you (and with I)- if we don't the days and weeks and years ahead will bring many 'car crashes' great and small because of our choice to choose darkness and death rather than Christ's Light and Life. Let us choose Life, Love and Light- let us choose Christ Our Lord!
