"Have Mercy on us and on the whole world..." Posted by Picasa
With Hurricane Rita now posed to strike I know that many like myself are thinking what can I do to help? Obviously after she comes ashore there will be a great need for assistance just as there was, and is, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. I think though one thing we can do today and this weekend is offer special Holy Hours and many prayers for those who may be effected. A few ideas I had just now as I finished my Rosary I thought I would pass on to you.
1. Make a Holy Hour before Our Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to pour out His Mercy and Grace upon all those who will be affected, especially those who are not prepared to face physically or spiritually!
2. Pray an extra Rosary!
3. Pray a Chaplet of Divine Mercy especially at the 3 O'Clock hour!!
4. Make the Stations of the Cross especially for those that will be and have been affected by both hurricanes.
5. Since many will not be able to attend Sunday Mass through no fault of their own I suggest that we all attend a extra Mass and receive Our Lord and ask God to pour out the grace into the hearts and lives of those who can not go and those who need it the most. You could attend on the Saturday Vigil and then attend on Sunday itself for example. It may be a sacrifice but it will be a sacrifice of praise that God will bless greatly in someone's soul and temporal life!!
There are all kinds of options but the biggest thing is to get on your knees and pray for them and for those in your life who may be furthest from God and need your prayers the most. Right now that is something we can do. Later we can physically and financially help but right now we can spiritually help.
Omnia Pro Iesu Per Mariam!!
