"With their patience worn out by the journey,

the people complained against God and Moses,
"Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert,
where there is no food or water?
We are disgusted with this wretched food!"

In punishment the LORD sent among the people saraph serpents,
which bit the people so that many of them died.
Then the people came to Moses and said,
"We have sinned in complaining against the LORD and you.
Pray the LORD to take the serpents from us."
So Moses prayed for the people, and the LORD said to Moses,
"Make a saraph and mount it on a pole,
and if any who have been bitten look at it, they will live."
Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole,
and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent
looked at the bronze serpent, he lived." + Numbers 21: 4b-9, From the Mass Readings for the Feast of the Holy Cross September 14th, 2005.

Praised be Jesus Christ!! Now and Forever!!
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is coming up on Wednesday and I have placed a few links, quotations and prayers to assist you to prepare for this Feast. I will post more on this Feast over the coming few days.
Some of the greatest times of contemplation for myself outside of Holy Mass and Adoration have been gazing upon the Cross of Jesus Christ. It helps me to put things in their proper perpespective when times are difficult or when times are hectic or even in good and joyful times.

We have only to nail our hearts to the pierced feet of Our Lord and place our complete trust in Him. All the struggles, all the sorrows, all the fears and uncertainties suddenly loose ground with the reality of Our Crucified Redeemer hanging on the tree of life waiting for us to come and adore Him. The reality of what we are called to do to pick up our crosses and follow Him so that we can crawl up upon our own cross next to Our Lord's Cross as His Victim of Love gives honor to the King of Kings and helps so many souls in their struggles towards the Heavenly Banquet of Love.

Fear intersects with Peace and the Cross of Jesus Christ. Suffering intersects with Redemption at the Cross of Jesus Christ. Pain intersects with Joy and the Cross of Jesus Christ. The past intersects with the future in the reality of today in the Cross of Jesus Christ. Justice intersects with Mercy at the Cross of Jesus Christ. Grace and Love become manifest upon the Cross of Jesus Christ. The only true hope for humankind and for each of us individually is only upon the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ and the Mercy which flows forth from His Heart. That is where our hearts, minds and souls must rest for true happiness and that is where all our reality must be based upon the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ.

Exaltation of the Holy Cross Novena

Jesus, Who because of Your burning love for us willed to be crucified and to shed Your Most Precious Blood for the redemption and salvation of our souls, look down upon us and grant the petition we ask for ....

We trust completely in Your Mercy. Cleanse us from sin by Your Grace, sanctify our work, give us and all those who are dear to us our daily bread, lighten the burden of our sufferings, bless our families, and grant to the nations, so sorely afflicted, Your Peace, which is the only true peace, so that by obeying Your Commandments we may come at last to the glory of Heaven.
