Praised be Jesus Christ!! Now and Forever!!
We all have choices in the way we respond to difficult times. This past weekend I really had hoped to go to the Eucharistic Congress and I did not get to. Tonight I was supposed to attend Carmel but I don't get to. Missing tonight is one of the more painful lessons that I have to go through. I have been looking forward to this night for months. The reality is though that since I have not been paid in a couple weeks because of a mix up I can not go tonight. While I don't enjoy this lesson that I am being given it is teaching me the importance of being prepared properly. I obviously was not. I can learn my lesson and grow towards Christ or I can complain and be upset and bitter. I choose to learn the lesson and know that this too shall pass. I have to offer up the sadness of not attending and the hunger I have experienced for the sake of souls. I also can not blame anything on anyone but rather recognize that Our Lord allowed me to experience this time not because He does not love me but BECAUSE He loves me. The reading from Lauds this morning brought that home to me- you can read it at the end of this posting. I know that this temporary trial shall be over with in the next day or two. What I have to do is to learn and apply the lessons so that when some bigger woes come soon I am prepared. I also have to offer up the hardship to Our Lord for others and break out of the mindset of 'me-ism' which I fall into. I thank God for the lessons and hardship He has allowed me to go through since they bring my soul closer to Him. I can not choose my cross for the cross I have has been blessed by Our Lord and is the way that I work out my own ascent up this holy mountain.

"Besides all this, we should be grateful to the Lord our God, for putting us to the test, as he did our forefathers. Recall how he dealt with Abraham, and how he tried Isaac, and all that happened to Jacob in Syrian Mesopotamia while he was tending the flocks of Laban, his mother's brother. Not for vengeance did the Lord put them in the crucible to try their hearts, nor has he done so with us. It is by way of admonition that he chastises those who are close to him." + Judith 8: 25-27
