Praised be Jesus Christ!! Now and Forever!!
I think that the soon each Christian realizes that we are all deep behind enemy lines in a deadly battle the better. We need to be on guard and face the reality of the spiritual life. It is not all good vibrations and happy times it is combat pure and simple. As the lines become more evident to everyone we must prepare just as soldiers prepare for an intense battle. We need to pray for discernment and wisdom and for protection from God. In this battle we have to arm ourselves as St Paul refers to. It is difficult as is any battle. It is painful as is any battle.
Living the Gospel is not for the faint of heart it is a challenge to say the least. That by the way is a paraphrase from our previous Holy Father John Paul II if you were interested. We should be testing situations and even people (ie: lifestyle and motives) to an extent unless we really know there walk is proper. This does not mean that one goes about life in some kind of paranoid state but rather with the mindset of prayerful discernment and awareness of potential trials. In otherwords it is being adult with our faith. That comes about through reading the Sacred Scripture, magisterial teachings, the frequent reception of the Sacraments and prayer. We all have to ask God to open the eyes of our souls to dangers of the spiritual kind so that we can avoid being taken captive by the enemy camp.
To say that this is a battle is not an exaggeration. persistence in prayer is so important less we fall. We take our recreation and occupations seriously. Unfortunately many times we take television too seriously and need to turn it off. However, so many do not take their faith seriously. They blow in the breeze of what ever the current fad of the day is. Even within the Church it is evident by dissent and extremists who either speak of the evils of the Second Vatican Council and thus break from the Bride of Christ. The opposite extremists are also there who speak of the "Spirit of Vatican II" and reject anything that is not what they want personally. We have to be aware and pray for light so that we remain safely within the Bark of Peter.
In daily life whether we are watching television, on the internet or anything else a bit of discernment and prudence is vital. Alas, though if we are not growing spiritually through the Sacraments, through prayer and spiritual reading then we will not fair to well behind this enemies lines. Like the soldier who allows his weapon to rust or does not practice tactics we will be mowed down by the first volley of the enemy of God.
We have to realize that this is difficult and embrace it. If we shy away from the difficulties now then we face very big problems in the future as dark times grow. The war has already been won it is just today's battles we have to face. Today we must we aware and persistent in prayer. We must grow and further hide ourselves within the Sacred Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We pray for light. We pray for God's protection. We pray to remain faithful and persevere. We pray for God's Mercy.
Omnia Pro Iesu Per Mariam!!

"Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee.
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee.
Forever and ever. Amen"
